Hello All you Wonderful Cycle Shifty Riders!

I hope you are all having a great week.
The Zone is closed this week for processing of their Liquor License, so we will be meeting at The Brick House at 7pm or whatever time you want to show up. :) The Brick House is located at Westroads Mall in the old Macaroni Restaurant building.
We have not had the pleasure of seeing a few of you for a while, so maybe you will surprise us and grace us with your presence. :)

Saturday, July 30th there is a Poker Ride that will be starting from Dillon Brothers. Proceeds witll be going toProject Harmony, a Community Based Child Protection Center.

Registration is from 10am to Noon. Cost is $20.00 per hand. [CLICK HERE FOR FLYER]
A few of us are already planning to participate in this ride, so if you are interested, lets all meet around 11am on the Dillons Motorsports side.

Most motorcycle design is a compromise between function and form. To our eyes, vintage scrambler-style motorcycles have a head start: road bikes that can also tackle loose gravel and light off-road work are often pleasing from an aesthetic point of view. Unfortunately, Triumph has never quite got it right with its own Scrambler, unless the machine has been lightly modified. And although Moto Morini offers its own stunningly good Scrambler, you’ll be lucky to find a dealer. But now the BMW accessories specialist Touratech has reworked the BMW F 800 R naked bike, and created what could be the definitive modern scrambler—the Touratech “Streetline F 800 ScrambleR“. The finishing touches are still to be added to this bike, but the wraps came off at last month’s BMW Motorrad Days in Bavaria. There’s a short video teaser here. [Thanks to Max Lecointe.]

Although the speed record at Bonneville for recumbent, fully enclosed streamliner motorcycles is higher, last weekend, at the old Loring Air Force Base in Limestone, Maine, Bill Warner, of Winauma, Florida, aimed his turbo Hayabusa down the 1 1/2 mile runway and ran 311.945 mph, beating his old record of 273.356 mph set last year. He’s done a lot of streamlining on this bike, too, but he’s sitting on it in the conventional racer crouch, not locked inside a tube. The event, now in its 3rd year, was put on by the Loring Timing Association.

A wide, 1 1/2 mile long straight piece of smooth concrete just begs for this sort of “How fast can you go?” meeting and everyone brings their cars, truck, motorcycles and what have you to come up with an answer. Running on concrete has the advantage of traction that Bonneville can’t match which helps a lot when you’re slowing down, too, making high speeds in this relatively short distance possible. This looks like a very popular and growing annual event. Pretty cool.
